Phil Renaud, President & CEO

Blue Sky Risk Management President and Founder Phil Renaud II, MSc, CPC, is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Enterprise Risk Management, Claims and Safety, and Loss Control.


Renaud has been instrumental in creating and managing a multitude of large, multi-location, and global Risk Management departments. He has over 30 years of direct Risk Management and Insurance responsibility.


Renaud’s Risk experience is extensive and rare. It spans the academic arena as the Executive Director of The Ohio State University’s Risk Institute, coupled with hands-on, practical, worldwide experience leading global Strategic and Operational Risk Functions for companies.


Experience/Clientele: 


  • Deutsche Post/DHL: Global SH&E and Operational Risk functions.


  • Kmart Corporation: Enterprise Risk Management and principal architect of Kmart’s program redesign during its Chapter 11 proceedings.


  • Limited Brands (L-Brands): Risk Management for: Express, Lerner New York (New York and Company), Lane Bryant, Henri Bendel, Abercrombie & Fitch, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, Limited Stores, White Barn Candle Company, Limited Too (Justice), Structure (Express Men), and Galyan’s Sporting Goods (Dick's Sporting Goods).


  • SCOA Industries (Shoe Corporations of America): Created and established SCOA's Risk Management function. Responsible for overall Risk Management, Loss Prevention, Claims  Management, and Pension and benefit administration. Responsible for the termination of an overfunded, defined benefit pension plan, and the implementation of a defined contribution (401K) Plan. 


  • JLG Industries: Risk Management function for JLG Industries, a global hydraulic equipment manufacturer.


  • Royal Sun Alliance: Regional Claim and Loss Manager. Developed the first telephonic claim service unit in the country.


  • Risk International: Managed the Outsourced Risk Management Practice, caring for a diverse clientele, ranging from mid-sized businesses to large multinational corporations across various industry sectors, including retail, manufacturing, and supply chain management.
